Chargers Men's Golfers Hopping, White, Campbell Earn Spots on All-Arrowhead Conference Team

Three members of the Carl Sandburg College men’s golf team earned their way to the All-Arrowhead Conference team during the spring season. Freshman Cole Hopping (Vermont, Ill./VIT), sophomore Trace White (Mount Pleasant, Iowa/Mount Pleasant) and sophomore Grant Campbell (Earlville, Ill./Earlville) finished in the top 12 of the individual Arrowhead standings to be named to the team.
The top 12 finishers during the league’s spring season earn spots on the all-conference team. Each of the six Arrowhead schools hosts a conference meet during the season, and a player’s five best scores count toward their season total.
Hopping tied for sixth overall with a 389 total, highlighted by a co-medalist finish in the meet hosted by Sandburg at Lake Bracken in which he shot a 3-over-par 74. Hopping posted scores in the 70s in four of the Chargers’ six events.
White finished with a 391 season total, putting him ninth in the conference. His low round of the spring was a 1-over-par 73 to place third at Kishwaukee.
Campbell’s 402 total for the spring earned him the 12th and final spot on the all-conference team. His 5-over 76 to open the season tied him for fourth place at Sauk Valley and was his low round of the spring.
Hopping will join sophomore Grant Otting (Taylor Ridge, Ill./Rockridge) this week in representing the Chargers at the NJCAA Division II National Championship from Tuesday-Friday at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Ind. The pair qualified for nationals at the Region IV meet in October. This marks the ninth straight year and 13th time in the last 14 years that Sandburg men’s golf has qualified at least one individual for nationals or advanced as a team.
